Opening the festival, opening a new era
We were delighted to welcome Minister for Business, Mr Lochhead, MSP and the Scottish Fintech Cluster in the new FinTech Scotland Home at Edinburgh Futures Institute for an evening celebrating the start of the FinTech Scotland Festival.

Scotland’s largest fintech annual event brought together leaders from across the industry.
This year’s summit progressed discussions around the latest technological advancements driving change across financial services. It covered critical developments in regulation, investment, and technology, providing insights into how these trends are poised to shape the sector’s future.

Innovation in Financial Regulation
The Financial Regulation Innovation event hosted by Barclays in Glasgow brought together industry experts, regulators, and academics to discuss the intersection of regulatory frameworks and technology in financial services. The agenda included panels on regulatory compliance, future risk management, and regulatory innovation. Keynotes and discussions spotlight the role of technology in simplifying compliance and the future regulatory landscape, with input from leading fintechs and academic institutions.

Payment Innovation
The Payment Innovation Day, part of the FinTech Scotland Festival and hosted by Edinburgh Napier University, brought together experts to discuss innovations in digital payments, loyalty programs, and the future of financial transactions. The event explored how advancements in payment technology are shaping customer experiences and redefining loyalty strategies, highlighting key trends like digital wallets, integrated loyalty systems, and evolving consumer expectations.

The Data-Driven Innovation Day, part of the FinTech Scotland Festival, was held at the Edinburgh Futures Institute. The event explored the transformative role of data in financial services, focusing on how data-driven insights are reshaping innovation, enhancing customer experiences, and driving new business models. Key topics included ethical data use, advanced analytics, and the integration of AI in financial services, with contributions from leading industry and academic voices.
Speaking at the Fintech Festival’s Data Innovation event at the Edinburgh Future’s institute, Dr. Kristy Docherty, co-director of the The Scottish Prevention Hub, discussed how the organisation is spearheading a transformative collaboration between public services, aiming to address vulnerability through data-driven insights and cross-sector partnerships.

Supporting scaling up fintechs
The “Scaling Up Your Fintech” event, held at CodeBase as part of the FinTech Scotland Festival, focussed on strategies for fintech expansion. Key topics included preparing your infrastructure for growth, securing funding, internationalisation and building teams to support growth. The event featured insights from established fintech companies, investors, and industry leaders, offering practical advice on overcoming challenges to scale in a competitive market.
