NewsGraf is a NaaS (network-as-a-service) platform that uses an extensive list of financial and writing contexts to create practical news first drafts, helping reduce re-prompting by up to 75%.
Financial content creators are eagle-eyed towards AI (for all the right reasons), as faster and more isn’t always helpful. But accurate and relevant is → precisely why and how we are building NewsGraf
NewsGraf puts a laser focus on data accuracy and context clouds of Brand Voice, Editor, Reader and News Category. This unique architecture, combined with industry-leading APIs that perform faster fact-checking, enables financial editors to convert complex financial data into reader-friendly news while maintaining editorial integrity and regulatory compliance.
Features and Market Solution
The platform features a powerful editor with two key capabilities: “Refer”, which lets you gather trusted information from the internet with one click and reference it in your news drafts later, and “Find”, which provides instant access to statistics, examples, industry opinions and relevant news without leaving the editor.
The platform aims to serve a diverse user base, including financial news outlets, financial services companies, business publications and independent analysts.
Environmental Impact
NewsGraf also addresses key environmental and efficiency challenges in modern journalism by improving interactions between financial editors and AI systems. Re-prompting has been found to have substantial environmental implications, with a single ChatGPT query consuming 2.9 watt-hours of energy (nearly 10 times that of a Google search).
NewsGraf reduces re-prompting by up to 75% and significantly decreases the carbon footprint of AI-assisted news production by combining follow-up queries into the first one.
Market Opportunity & Vision
With the media monitoring tools market expected to reach £13.5 billion by 2032, NewsGraf is strategically positioned to capture a significant share through its personalised accuracy in financial news content.
Based in Glasgow and backed by Strathclyde Inspire, NewsGraf is initially targeting UK-based financial news organisations, with plans to expand globally. Our commitment to simplifying financial editorial communication with AI and wider audiences positions us in a transformative space in the financial news industry. And our goal to maintain accuracy and compliance in responses enables us to help editors deliver more engaging and accessible financial news to their readers.
NewsGraf emerged from understanding how AI is transforming content creation. In early 2023, founder Neha Tanwer, a marketing graduate from the University of Strathclyde, observed a concerning trend: marketers were spending more time learning to communicate with AI than with their audiences. The conversations had shifted from visitors, readers, prospects, customers and advocates to best AI practices, best prompt Swipe file, and best prompt engineering courses. While adaptation is a core part of marketing, replacing users with AI as the focal point didn’t seem quite right.
Initially launched as Mend Martech, the platform aimed to free marketers from the complexities of prompt engineering, which required rigorous prompting to achieve the desired response. However, after the market validation phase, the team discovered that the financial news sector needed a solution that could combine the speed of AI with unwavering accuracy.
This led to a pivotal point in our journey. While Mend Martech successfully demonstrated the power of persona-based content generation, we realised that the broader MarTech space wasn’t where we could make our most significant impact.
The financial news sector, with its unique challenges of complexity, accuracy and regulatory requirements, has given us the whitespace to apply our solution where it was needed most.
The transition from Mend Martech to NewsGraf is more than just a rebrand – it has given our north star a clear direction. It reflects our commitment to solving targeted issues rather than adding to the noise of general-purpose AI tools. It demonstrates our ability to listen to market needs and pivot accordingly.
We are building at the intersection of financial journalism and AI, aiming to significantly reduce the environmental impact of re-prompting through efficient AI communication.
As we continue to grow, our vision remains clear: to help financial editors create and break news with accuracy. The future of NewsGraf is not just about generating news faster – it is about defining standards for how AI can serve the financial news industry responsibly.
