FreeAgent helps you take care of your business admin day-to-day – from managing your expenses, running a fully RTI-compliant payroll and tracking the time you’re working, through to creating and sending professional-looking estimates and invoices to your clients.

With FreeAgent, you can also keep track of your cash flow and profit profitability and use the overview screen to see at a glance who owes you money. In addition, you can see how much tax you owe and when it’s due, as well as file your VAT, RTI and Self Assessment returns directly to HMRC.

More than 70,000 customers worldwide currently use the system to manage their business accounts – all done simply without confusing accounting jargon and with an award-winning team of friendly support accountants on standby to help them stay on-track.

FreeAgent was founded in 2007 by freelancers Ed Molyneux, Olly Headey and Roan Lavery, who were inspired by a mutual dislike of using rigid spreadsheets to manage their accounts.

Frustrated that there was no software available that specifically met the needs of micro-businesses and freelancers – or that helped them work efficiently with their accountants – they developed FreeAgent; their own solution to their problem.

FreeAgent won the Best Small Business Accounting Software category at the 2018 AccountingWEB Software Excellence Awards and is a former winner at the British Accountancy Awards. The company is a FCSA partner and has been listed twice on the Deloitte Fast 50, as well as being named “one to watch” in the Tech Track 100.

In 2018, FreeAgent was acquired by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group where it is run as an operationally independent entity.
