Engaging with professional advisors should be simple and efficient. Onboarding and AML processes can often be time-consuming, relying on photocopies, unsecure email servers and manual form filling. With the arrival of more stringent regulations addressing money laundering and data privacy, it’s clear that photocopied passports, loose bank statements and unsecure e-mail threads have had their day.

Amiqus was founded in 2015 after Callum Murray, CEO, experienced the civil justice system first hand. Finding the process expensive, complex and slow, he saw that many existing processes could be streamlined and improved with innovative technology. After training as a mediator, Callum teamed up with software experts to design and build online tools for regulated professionals and their clients.
Following user research and prototype building (in collaboration with The Data Lab and the Royal Society of Edinburgh), the core Amiqus team released Amiqus ID. The first component in the Amiqus platform, the software was designed to simplify engagement between firms and their clients, whilst ensuring the highest standards of security. The software has now been adopted by leading finance and legal firms across the UK.
Starting with six founders, the team has now grown to thirty. While the Amiqus HQ is based in Edinburgh, their remote-first policy means that the business works out of Scotland, Ireland, England, Portugal and beyond.
Amiqus is recommended by regulatory bodies such as ICAS (Institute for Chartered Accountants in Scotland) and is a strategic partner with the Law Society of Scotland.
In 2017, Callum and his team won multiple awards, including Entrepreneurial Scotland’s Entrepreneur of the Year and Barclays’ Regional Startup of the Year, and announced Sir Sandy Crombie as Chairman.
In 2018, Amiqus won Deloitte’s Disrupt the Enterprise award, securing a six month data analyst secondee. Amiqus is currently in the final for the Julius Baer & Spectator Magazine’s Economic Disruptor award.
